Adult Age Progressions/Fugitive Updates

adult age progression fugitive update karen t. taylorAn age-old problem in the corrections aspect of law enforcement is the reality that incarcerated prisoners sometimes escape. Creating updated appearances of long-term missing fugitives is useful for police posters or crime-stopper television programs to augment stories about sought-after criminals. Adult age progressions are sometimes done in cases of long-term absent adults who are classified as missing persons as part of the investigative effort to find them. Both the terms “adult age progression” and “fugitive update” are used, depending on the status of the target individual.

Forensic artists who work in this area must understand the general facial changes inherent with aging and then study and assess each case individually. Lifestyle, heredity, health and other factors must also be considered.
