  • Aids in the identification, apprehension or conviction of criminal offenders
  • Aids in the location of crime victims
  • Aids in the identification of unknown deceased persons

Dr. Robert M. George has said, “Forensic art may be defined as portrait art minus a tangible subject.”

I’ve been involved in the field of forensic art for more than thirty years, both as a practitioner and as an instructor. This facial identification-related artwork falls into the categories listed above. The potential importance of high quality forensic art cannot be underestimated. One image can literally be responsible for the recovery of a precious stolen child, stopping a serial rapist or murderer, or providing justice for the family who has lost a loved one to homicide.
